My Week In Gaming: 9/21 -9/27

What...A...Week!

This week was one for the record books and a very much needed distraction from the craziness of 2020. We saw pre-orders flying off shelves for the new consoles and hardware, Microsoft did WHAT, and I may have found my next big game.

Microsoft Buys ZeniMax

Xbox Buys Out Bethesda And ZeniMax Media

Yep, didn't see this one coming. As gamers around the US were sipping their morning coffee in their comfiest pajamas, Xbox social accounts casually published the post heard around the world. Microsoft is in the works of acquiring ZeniMax, the parent company behind a handful of award-winning game studios:

  • Alpha Dog Games
  • Arkane Studios
  • Behtesda Softworks
  • id Software
  • Machine Games
  • Roundhouse Studios
  • Tango Gameworks
  • ZeniMax Online Studios

This acquisition adds to the already overwhelming value of Game Pass. Just when everyone thought Xbox was going to cruise into next-gen, we are proved wrong. Rumor has it, Satya Nadella is still holding Phil Spencer's beer.

Ready or Not, Next-Gen is Here

I was successful in pre-ordering both a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X! I'm still a bit iffy about the reliability of GameStop's system for the PS5, but I believe the Xbox Series X is confirmed. However, I may not be getting it on launch day. Time will tell. Regardless, I look forward to seeing what both consoles can do.

Twitch Stream Recap

This week marked the return of regular streams post-Hurricane Sally. Power and internet were restored Wednesday afternoon/evening, but I believe my fiber was being utilized as an alternative routing method as a backup for other AT&T users.

Shadowlands Prep - Pre-Patch...Soon?

Villain continues to prep for the release of Shadowlands. We are recruiting all classes for raids. Our raiding schedule is Tuesday/Wednesday 9:00 pm - 12:00 am central time. If interested, head over to our website for more information, https://villain.gg/join.

My Class for Shadowlands: Shaman or Demon Hunter

I still plan on playing my shaman as enhancement and elemental in Shadowlands. However, I'm not 100% certain with that decision yet. I've been having fun with my demon hunter and may play him as my main. Regardless, I plan on leveling both when Slands comes out.

We are closing in on the Brutosaur, less than 1 million gold away!

Spellbreak for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Game Details

I picked up Spellbreak over the week and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I played the Alpha many moons ago, but it wasn't until I saw King Gothalion hyping it up that I wanted to dip my toes in it again. The game feels and plays great. Matches are about 15 minutes in duration with the max player limit per match being 42. Initial mobility is relatively good especially after an upgrade or two from your first loot path.

Let's play some Spellbreak if you're interested. It's free to play on the Epic Games Store.

This is something new I've decided to try as a sort of news/personal blog about what all I played and did over the week. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you back here next week!
